Madison 263 SC is a fungicide based on the active ingredients trifloxystrobin and prothioconazole. It is applied to wheat, barley, rye and triticale.
The active substance trifloxystrobin is a synthetic derivative of natural strobilurins with translaminar action. It exhibits mainly preventive but also therapeutic action. At a biochemical level, it acts by inhibiting the mitochondrial respiration of fungi at the Qo site of complex III of cytochrome bc 1 (Qols group, oximinoacetates subgroup).
Prothioconazole is a systemic fungicide of the triazolinthiones group. At the biochemical level, it acts by inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol (SBI), which is the main component of fungal cell membranes. Specifically, prothioconazole acts at the C-14 demethylation site (Demethylation Inhibitors-DMIs).
Prothioconazole exhibits very good transsystemic movement in the plant through the xylem vessels (acropetal transsystemic movement). It inhibits the elongation of the fungal germ tube and the development of mycelial hyphae. Its action is mainly preventive.
