Efficient conversion of sugars
The specially developed heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria are designed to start produce acetic acid very quickly, even at high pH levels. This deprives the yeast of its food source when sugar levels are low. Conversely, at high sugar levels, a low pH is quickly reached, thus inhibiting yeast growth.
High aerobic stability
Crops that already show significant defects before harvest (e.g. crops without ears, lying, high dry matter content, etc.) must definitely be treated with a heterofermentative silage inoculant. Only a sufficiently high acetic acid production can reduce the enormous risk of secondary fermentation.
The PIONEER 11M55 supports the ensiling of severely damaged crops.

THE use of the PIONEER® 11M55 is recommended under the following conditions:
- TM content: high (above 40%)
- very high sugar content
- Ripe harvest season
- Significant problems are expected with secondary heating.
- Grass: Very late mowing – dry material
These characteristics distinguish the product:
- Heterofermentative lactobacilli : production of acetic acid and 1,2-propanediol
- Fast and efficient securing the shredded material : protection against secondary heating
- High osmotic tolerance : Action of lactic acid bacteria at (very) high levels of dry matter (DM)
